Robyn Samra, “The Pickle Lady,” has been in the pickle business for over twenty two years in New York and New Jersey. After closing her store at 763 River Road in Teaneck in 2010 to focus solely on Farmer’s Markets, she realized that the retail store was her passion and part of the Pickle Licious puzzle.
So, along with husband Ray Calvo – her new partner in business and life — and her two daughters (Alex 25 & Taylor 23) they opened their newest home of Pickle Licious at 384 Cedar Lane, Teaneck, NJ, 07666.Robyn has found the love of her life and looks forward to continuing her pickle adventures with her husband by her side.
The new location will continue with all the flair of the past: the old Lower East Side feeling, warm and friendly staff, and, of course, FREE SAMPLES ALL THE TIME!
Alex (the older daughter) is recently engaged and is ready to put her twist and ideas into the family business. After graduating from LIM College in 2011 she took some time to explore the fashion industry, opening up at pop-up shop in Nantucket for the summer season in 2013. Growing up in around farmers’ markets and the retail store Alex is ready to take on the food industry.
Taylor ( the younger daughter) is currently studying at The Culinary Institute of America. Learning all the in ands outs of the kitchen. Taylor is our design chef, creating our recipes for tapenades, hummus, and olive combinations. Taylor spent the summer in 2013 in Boston working at Top of the Hub.
Pickle Licious has an enthusiastic retail following, including the Orthodox community of Teaneck and surrounding towns. Customers from the over 40 Farmers Markets flock to the retail store during non-market season to satisfy their pickle cravings.
Pickle Licious specializes in pickles of course (sold by the gallon, quart, pint, or pickle-on-a-stick). But we are also famous for our olives, olive paste, homemade tapenades, stuffed grape leaves, and marinated artichokes. We carry specialty items such Robert Rothchild products, nuts, salsas, chips, and dips. Our old fashion candy selection brings you back in time (malt balls, halavah, non-parills, and more).
Pickle platters, olive platters and gift-wrapped mason jars have grown to be a huge hit for special occasions or anytime with family and friends.
